Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar feels it will be very difficult for England to make a comeback in the series after the manner in which they lost at Lord’s. England dominated the Test for most part but succumbed to pressure on the last day to go down by 151 runs. Gavaskar believes the Lord’s defeat would have dented the hosts psychologically, from which they will find it tough to recover.

Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar has praised upcoming fast bowler Mohammed Siraj for his excellent performance in the Lord’s Test. Siraj claimed 8 wickets in the match as India registered victory by 151 runs to go 1-0 in the in the five-match series. Tendulkar has been highly impressed with how consistent Siraj has proved to be during his short career in Test matches.

Indian captain Virat Kohli revealed that continuing tension between India and England players during the final day of the Lord’s Test gave them greater motivation to win. After Jasprit Bumrah’s bouncer barrage to James Anderson in England’s first innings, Mark Wood gave it back to the Indian bowler when he came out to bat. Tempers flared out in the middle with Bumrah engaging in verbal duels with the Englishmen. India were then all pumped up when they came out to bowl in the final innings.

Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (61) and Cheteshwar Pujara (45) added a crucial 100 runs for the fourth wicket on Day 4 of the Lord’s Test against England. However, both fell before the close of play as the hosts seized back the advantage. India ended the day on 181 for 6, with a lead of only 154 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant (14 off 29) and Ishant Sharma (4 off 10) were at the crease for India at stumps.

England captain Joe Root struck his 22nd Test hundred as England took a 27-run lead over India in the second Test at Lord’s on Saturday. Root remained not out on 180 as England responded with a spirited 391 to India’s first-innings total of 364. After India squandered the advantage with the bat, they couldn’t stop England from going past India’s total as well.

Team India opener KL Rahul, who became the latest to score a hundred at the hallowed Lord’s surface, stated that while he was pleased with the effort, for him every Test century is special. Rahul scored 129 off 150 balls, holding the Indian innings together under tough conditions.

Team India batter Rohit Sharma praised fellow opener KL Rahul for his splendid hundred on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test against England. Rahul remained unbeaten on 127 from 248 balls as India went to stumps at 276 for 3. Rahul and Rohit (83) featured in a brilliant opening stand of 126 after India lost the toss and were asked to bat first under overcast conditions. The two openers ensured that India did not lose early wickets even as England came hard at them.

Team India captain Virat Kohli made it clear that India wouldn’t look at batting ability while deciding Shardul Thakur’s replacement for the second Test at Lord’s. Kohli said that claiming 20 wickets is more important and they will go with that option for Thakur’s replacement. The Mumbai pacer is said to be suffering from a hamstring injury and is unlikely to take part in the Lord’s Test. He was impressive in Nottingham, with four wickets in the match. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin or pacers Ishant Sharma/ Umesh Yadav could replace Thakur for the Lord’s Test.

England Test captain Joe Root has asserted that all-rounder Moeen Ali has the ability to win matches for the team with both the bat and ball in hand. Moeen has been brought into the England team for the second Test against India at Lord’s. The cricketer has an excellent record against India and will look to add the same. With Stuart Broad uncertain for the second Test, which starts on Thursday, there is a fair chance of Moeen getting into the playing XI.
